Alpacas Fighting to Save the Gulf Coast
Most of us know that Alpaca wool is very soft, warm, and strong. What many may not know is that it absorbs oil really well. An article from the New Orleans Times describes how an Alpaca Farm in Pennsyvania is donating wool to help absorb some of the spilled oil.
According to the article, “The alpaca hair and other natural materials including human hair, wool and feathers are stuffed into nylon stockings and used to make the floating booms.”
Very Cool!
