A Tale of Breeding Nigerian Dwarf Goats
A hobby farmer tells her tale of breeding Nigerian dwarf goats at CK farm happenings.
Our Nigerian does, Brie and Eliza, have also been in heat, but I consider it an adolescent heat. They’re still under a year in age and are too small to have babies safely.
One lesson you learn more profoundly raising animals or farming generally is that you can’t rush nature. Going to the grocery store is so simple and food is so accessible, it is easy to forget that what we consume does not appear out of thin air. We look forward to the future milk, cheese, and other dairy products that our goats will provide, but for now we are happy to enjoy them for their unique personalities.
